The safety measures during the “Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix” race have been ensured at a high level
From September 13 to 15, the “Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix” was held in Baku. During this internationally significant sporting event, the maintenance of public order and the assurance of public safety, as well as the protection and control of the area, were carried out by the personnel of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who were involved alongside police officers. They approached their assigned tasks with full responsibility and successfully fulfilled their duties.
It should be noted that a relevant plan was first developed and the personnel were assigned to specific service areas. The coordination of joint services between the police and the troops was organized and a command center was established at the Main Department of the Internal Troops to facilitate interaction with event organizers and relevant state agencies. A review of the areas and facilities where the race would take place was conducted to analyze the organization of services and the commanding officers were familiarized with the service locations. The significance of the event, the principles of legality and the protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms were explained to the personnel involved, emphasizing the importance of approaching their duties with responsibility.
In the lead-up to the race, a queue inspection was held at the military units of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs that were involved in the service. This inspection assessed the readiness of military personnel assigned to maintain public order and ensure public safety during the “Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix”, as well as addressed supply and logistical issues and checked the condition of vehicles.
Special attention was given to the special forces and units equipped with specialized tools, including the personnel who will be deployed along the perimeter, with a focus on their uniforms, comprehensive supply needs, specialized equipment, communication devices and vehicles.
Additionally, specific training sessions were conducted on the protection of designated facilities and the implementation of access control procedures at checkpoints, ensuring the participation of female military personnel in these relevant drills.
It was confirmed that the timely execution of the planned preparatory measures was ensured to fully accomplish the service tasks during the race.
On September 11, the service of the Internal Troops’ military personnel, in collaboration with police officers, began in connection with the execution of assigned tasks at the race track, followed by the “Athletes Village” on September 12 and the Baku Crystal Hall on September 13. Our military personnel successfully fulfilled all assigned tasks regarding the protection of both competitive and non-competitive facilities.
The grandstands and other structures set up for spectators were thoroughly inspected by the engineering teams in advance and duly handed over for security. Access control procedures were implemented at the checkpoints and service dogs were extensively used during the inspection of civilian vehicles with movement permits.
All tasks outlined in these areas were fully completed and no deficiencies were observed in the conduct of the service.
Additionally, due to the prior briefing conducted with the military personnel involved in the service, with particular attention paid to their moral, psychological and individual qualities, strict adherence to ethical behavior norms was maintained during interactions with citizens, especially foreign guests.
Throughout the duration of the race, all necessary measures were taken to ensure the service, including the transportation and feeding of personnel, provision of medical services to military personnel and the effective organization of their leisure time.
As seen, the personnel of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who possess significant experience in ensuring public safety during such prestigious events, once again executed all assigned tasks with professionalism.
